Dearest Fellow-praying warrior friends,
And isn’t that what we are right now?! A united, well-equipped, fully armoured army of devoted, dedicated warriors? Our Leader is asking us all this question: “Will you doff your lavender-kid zeal, and become real and consecrated warriors? Will you give yourselves wholly and irrevocably to the great work of establishing the truth, the gospel, and the Science which are necessary to the salvation of the world from error, sin, disease, and death? Answer at once and practically, and answer aright! (Mis 177:14)
I know that we are all “answering aright” to this question of our Leader. There is always a call to pray for our world, because she also addresses us as “Citizens of the world….” And in both these capacities, “warriors” and “citizens of the world” we can DAILY and hourly, be mentally on our knees praying for our community, – the world.
Our Leader describes prayer this way:
“Prophet and apostle have glorified God in secret prayer, and He has rewarded them openly. Prayer can neither change God, nor bring His designs into mortal modes; but it can and does change our modes and our false sense of Life, Love, and Truth, uplifting us to Him. Such prayer humiliates, purifies, and quickens activity, in the direction that is unerring.
True prayer is not asking God for love; it is learning to love, and to include all mankind in one affection. Prayer is the utilization of the love wherewith He loves us. Prayer begets an awakened desire to be and do good. It makes new and scientific discoveries of God, of His goodness and power. It shows us more clearly than we saw before, what we already have and are; and most of all, it shows us what God is.”
Dear Fellow Warriors, our planet has never been in greater need of prayer than right now.
In praying about how to defeat and nothingise this pandemic world belief, it is good to remember how Joshua conquered the city of Jericho: it was not by military means, by battering rams or weapons of war that the walls of Jericho came down, but by the united persistent prayer of the children of Israel. It was actually by the power of right thought over material resistance.
So what will defeat this materially solid contagious belief is not through material means, through the finding of a vaccine that will magically “solve” everything; it is actually in strong, consistent affirmation of God’s all power and all presence, – of knowing His allness and the nothingness of anything else.
When Moses was confronted by a multitude of very fearful children of Israel, with Pharaoh and his army of horses and chariots pursuing them, Moses did not tell them to turn and fight, the Bible tells us:
“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to-day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to-day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. (Exodus 14:13, 14)
And we find another example of how to deal with an aggressive army of material beliefs with Jehoshaphat when he said to the besieged children of Israel:
“Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem,.. Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. …
Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to-morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshipping the Lord. …
… and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness….
Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the Lord had made them to rejoice over their enemies. And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the Lord. And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the Lord fought against the enemies of Israel. So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
(II Chronicles 20:15, 17, 18, 20 3rd and, 21, 27–30)
So these three Old Testament prophets all won significant victories obeying very similar instructions, –
“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to-day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to-day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
“Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. …
“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you; fear not, nor be dismayed; to-morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
“Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
So the realm …was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about. “
Very dearest fellow prayers, we have joyous work to do in consistently and calmly rebuking mortal mind’s aggressive mental suggestions that God is not ALL. Let us continue to rejoice together in this important assignment.
ASSOCIATION THIS YEAR
Just want to keep you in the picture as regards Association in October. We, the Association committee and I, are praying and listening as to the right steps to take regarding our Association meeting this year. We will definitely have Association, but what form it will take is not quite clear right now, and will depend on what government regulations are in place at that time.
We know you will be praying right along with us about this, and I will keep in touch with you as things unfold. We can rejoice in our Leader’s words:
“Working and praying with true motives, your Father will open the way?” (SH 326:20)
With such tender love
